Brookhaven, GA – PARC of Brookhaven, a coalition of citizens and park supporters from all Brookhaven parks, attended the regularly scheduled Brookhaven City Council Meeting to welcome Ray Holloway, the newly hired Brookhaven Parks & Recreation Director.
Chad Boles, PARC member representing Briarwood Park, addressed the Mayor and City Council in welcoming Mr. Holloway, saying, ” We are excited to welcome Ray Holloway to Brookhaven, his new home and a community that has many community parks supporters who are eager and willing to help you succeed.” Chad mentioned that the roots of the PARC organization began before the formal establishment of Brookhaven and all members want to see Brookhaven’s parks improved to better serve the community, its various neighborhoods and all its citizens.
Ronnie Mayer, a long time Brookhaven park supporter who was responsible for the complete renovation of Ashford Park, was very pleased with Ray Holloway’s arrival and commented “We are very excited to have someone of Mr. Holloway’s credentials and experience to help improve our parks to be the best in Atlanta”
After the City Council meeting PARC representatives met with Mr. Holloway for a commemorative group picture.
Sue Binkert, PARC President, and Parks & Recreation Chairperson for the Governors Commission on the formation of Brookhaven, reaffirmed the origins of the PARC group and the recollected that “The two primary reasons citizens voted for the formation of Brookhaven were to have better Police service and better Parks, and we look forward to working with Ray Holloway to achieve this second goal.”
Another PARC member, Karen Whitehead, representing Murphey Candler Park, commented that “Ray seems very excited about his opportunity here in Brookhaven and agrees that citizen involvement and support are critical for improving Brookhaven’s parks. We all look forward to working together to succeed.
PARC of Brookhaven stands for the Park And Recreational Coalition and its Mission is to Communicate, Promote and Unite the citizens of Brookhaven to support the improvement and maintenance of the City’s Parks and recreational open spaces.
