ATLANTA – State House Representative Scott Holcomb (D-81) is introducing two bills during the current legislative session.

The bills are designed to legislatively validate the successful Chamblee referendum vote that was taken in November which included the Century Center property within the City of Chamblee borders.

If the bills successfully navigate the legislature, they will also put to rest any litigation that is pending by fixing the borders of Chamblee and Brookhaven as they were drawn and approved by voters.

This legislation is being handled under the local legislation rules and have been “first read” in the DeKalb Delegation. The “second reading” in the DeKalb Delegation will take place in the early part of next week.

More on these bills as they continue to move through the legislative process.

  1. enuff govt already

The legislature enabled this mess and now that it's with the court let's get a ruling. This referendum would just kick the can down the road to the next city v city.

    • Actually what the legislature did in allowing the vote for Chamblee annexation was correct and true. It was purposefully misinterpreted and directed by some very desperate politicians. Late last year Mike Jacobs stated that he thought there would be legislation put forth to clarify the intent of the legislature and that is what Holcomb is doing. If voted on successfully by the legislature it will override the courts.

Y'all leave my city alone. We need it to expand. We are broke and need the cash. Let's get Brookhaven right. Right for us folks who fought so hard to get it. Even if it means taking something called for by someone else. Fave it. It's a dog eat dog world. If Chamblee wants to pout, let them do it. Highwoods is a private property owner. That don't want to be in Chamblee. So let's make a deal. Chamblee can have the pink pony and well take Highwoods. Deal?
