Brookhaven, GA, August 17th – Saturday morning, a great crowd was on hand despite the weather, to show their support for a new playground bathroom project at Briarwood Park. The new playground bathroom will be strategically located between the picnic area and the two new groups of playground equipment.
Attendees perused other areas of the park and marveled at the recent improvements such as the Forest Patio, the renovated Picnic Area, the community and butterfly garden, the new irrigation system, the uncovered Azalea Trail and learned about a proposed Off Leash Area (BriarWOOF Park).
The Bounce House was very popular with the kids (as well as a few parents that snuck in) and everyone enjoyed donuts, coffee, and bananas.
The new facilities will cost approximately $30,000, and the construction will be done by Haven REI. After review and approval of the final plans by the City of Brookhaven, construction is planned to begin this fall. While we were there, surveying crews were busy scoping out the site.
If you haven’t made it over to the park to enjoy what the Friends of Briarwood Park have been able to accomplish, you should. It’s really turned out nice.
