Brookhaven, GA, March 26 – The Lovett School’s 7th Grade Girl Scouts were recognized by Ray Holloway, Director of Parks and Recreation, at the regularly scheduled Brookhaven City Council meeting for their contributions to Brookhaven Park.
In collaboration with the Friends of Brookhaven Park, the Girl Scouts planned and implemented an improvement project in Brookhaven Park in connection with their pursuit of the Girl Scout Silver Award.
In December, 2013, the Girl Scouts planted over 600 daffodil bulbs in the Park, and this Spring, they are completing the project with the donation of a park bench. The Girl Scouts funded the daffodils with a fundraiser in the fall and Post Hope Foundation is providing funding for the bench.
Mary Ann Kelly, Friends of Brookhaven Park, also thanked the Girl Scouts and their mothers, who attended the meeting, noting, “This project has had a beautiful impact on the Park that will continue to be enjoyed by its users for many years in the future.”
Stephanie Hammond, Ledina Austin, and Lisa Wardo are all troop leaders for Troop 28300 – 7th Grade at Lovett.
