Brookhaven, GA, June 16 – Welcomed by a full and eager-to-serve staff, hundreds gathered Thursday, June 12 for the Grand Opening of the new Hyatt Atlanta Perimeter at Villa Christina. This new Hyatt represents Atlanta’s first new full-service hotel in over five years.
Todd Lantier, Chairman of the Board of Brookhaven’s Chamber of Commerce served as emcee for the event. “This is truly a collaboration of a lot of different partners,” said Lantier. “These folks have created 150 jobs here. That’s great for Brookhaven, that is great for the Perimeter area, Atlanta and Georgia.”
Located inside the Perimeter Summit 83 acre mixed use development, the Hyatt Atlanta Perimeter at Villa Christina offers 13,000 square feet of meeting space and 177 guest rooms, including 15 suites. Guests can enjoy outdoor gardens, meeting and conference facilities, venues for weddings and special events, as well as several fine dining options.
Bob Voyles with Seven Oaks, who manages the entire Perimeter Summit complex said, “This Hyatt has been the dream of a number of us for over 15 years.” Speaking of the Perimeter Summit development, Voyles added, “This project not only has great Class-A office space, conference centers and meeting facilities, now we have the nicest hotel in the entire Perimeter area to complete the project.”
Making the trip from California to attend the Grand Opening, Bob Barrett with General Electric Asset Management talked about the role his firm played in the project. “I am in charge of a team that builds things like this and we get them up and operating and turn them over to the pension trusts so that they can have an asset that they can be proud of. It’s a village to put this together.” Barrett also extended thanks to many partners who played a role in the development.
Mark Butler, State of Georgia Labor Commissioner thanked those involved in bringing the new hotel to Perimeter Summit. Butler shared the hospitality from the Hyatt employees he received during his visit indicated to him the hotel will be a success. “I can already tell they [Hyatt] have done a wonderful job in hiring amazing people to work this facility, ” said Butler. “Thank you for your investment in Georgia and putting Georgians back to work.”
Noting that his firm is grateful for the opportunity to be the developer on the project, David Marvin with the Legacy Property Group said, “We were very honored to be selected by the General Electric Pension Trust to be the developer for the project.” Marvin said when the project first came about several years back, it felt a little pioneering. “But today, it feels very timely as the market surges.” Marvin said, “The Perimeter market has some competition that’s a bit tired. The success of Perimeter Summit and the amount of interest and demand there is here…leveraging all of those, we’ve worked with a fantastic team and are very proud of what we’ve created.”
Hospitality Ventures Management Group (HVMP) will manage the operations of the new hotel. “We try to embody a culture of excellence and [its] what we base everything on from our operational and service perspective,” said Robert Cole, CEO of HVMP. Cole gave thanks to the many associates who helped pull the staff together and set the new Hyatt up for success.
The day-to-day operations of the hotel will be led by General Manager, Vincent Bucci. Bucci extended thank-you’s to all of his staff and colleagues, “All of them have been instrumental in creating this oasis inside this very busy Perimeter area.”
Brookhaven’s Mayor, J Max Davis congratulated all of those who played a role in bringing the Perimeter Summit development to the area. He said Brookhaven’s philosophy is one where the city doesn’t want to stand in the way unnecessarily from people earning a living, enjoying their home and being safe in their homes. The Mayor told the group if they need any thing from the city to give the city a call. “We look forward to being the solution to your problems, not ‘the’ problem.”
The Grand Opening Ceremony came to an end with a ribbon cutting. Afterward attendees went inside and enjoyed a full compliment of hors d’oeuvres, while the took in and learned more about the new facility.
