Brookhaven, GA, July 11, 2015 – The Post Reports – The Georgia Association of Educators and the Organization of DeKalb Educators have endorsed Democrat Taylor Bennett in his bid to replace former State Representative Mike Jacobs in Georgia House District 80. A professional association—not a union—the Georgia Association of Educators and Organization of DeKalb Educators work throughout Georgia to strengthen commitment to public school systems and educators.
“Through our interview process, it was determined that Mr. Bennett was hands down the best candidate for the position,” said Deborah Jones, president of the Organization of DeKalb Educators. “His knowledge regarding the issues facing our public schools, students and educators here in DeKalb County, such as school funding, employee rights, and promoting equality of resources for our schools, along with his expressed willingness to tackle those issues, were key determinants in our endorsement.”
“As the son and grandson of public school teachers, and a product of public schools myself, I know just how far a quality public education can take a child,” said Bennett. “I look forward to working with GAE, ODE, and Democrats and Republicans alike to improve public education statewide, reduce wasteful spending, and provide our students and teachers with the resources they need to succeed.”
