Brookhaven, GA, January 6, 2016 – by Trey Benton – House District 80 State House Representative Taylor Bennett recently announced his 2016 Legislative Team and a new website (HD80.org) designed to bring constituents access to goings on in the HD80 office and the Georgia Legislature.
Rep. Bennett says that over the next couple of weeks his team will be updating the site with the latest announcements, events, legislative summaries, legislative forecasts and other important information for residents of House District 80.
“When we set out to win this seat back in May, our goal and our promise was to provide the people of House District 80 with honest, transparent, and highly effective representation at the Capitol,” Rep. Bennett told The Post. “This Monday we will begin to do just that with a bipartisan team of highly skilled Brookhaven volunteers, students and my paid legislative aide and chief of staff, Hayden Brooks. I’m looking forward to seeing what this team, this district, and this legislature can accomplish together.”
Rep. Bennett’s Legislative Staff Members are listed below with a brief bio:
Hayden Brooks – Chief of Staff
Hayden Brooks is a native Georgian and a graduate of the University of Georgia and Georgia State University. Prior to joining the team, Hayden served as Chief of Staff to Jason Carter in the State Senate and then as the Director of Operations and a Deputy Finance Director for Carter’s 2014 gubernatorial campaign. In his spare time, Hayden likes to make furniture and spend time with his family and friends.
Mpaza Kapembwa – Deputy Chief of Staff (Volunteer)
Mpaza Kapembwa is a native of Lusaka, Zambia, and has lived in Brookhaven for 10 years. He is a 2011 graduate of Cross Keys High School where he was a Coca-Cola Foundation Scholar, a Dell Scholar, and a Gates Millennium Scholar. He has been actively involved with the Cross Keys Foundation since 2009 to advocate for equity of opportunity for students and has served on the Board of Directors since 2012. He is a 2015 graduate of Williams College in Massachusetts where he majored in Chinese. Mpaza is a Pickering Fellow with the Department of State and will be joining the Foreign Service upon completion of his graduate studies at Georgia Tech’s Sam Nunn School of International Affairs in 2017.
Loren Collins – Legislative Director (Volunteer)
Loren is a native of Stone Mountain, GA and a graduate of Greater Atlanta Christian. Loren is a “double-dawg” graduating from UGA for both his undergraduate studies and law school. Loren lives in Brookhaven and is a practicing attorney as well as a mediator. Loren is also a published author.
Chris Valley – Director of Constituent Services (Volunteer)
Chris has been a resident of Brookhaven for 34 years. Chris has a master’s degree from the University of Chicago in social services and his professional career has been focused in the areas of education, housing and health.
Ayodeji (“DJ”) Aladesanmi – Legislative Intern (Volunteer)
Ayodeji is a native of Marietta, GA and a graduate of Wheeler High School. Ayodeji is currently enrolled at Georgia Tech and is pursuing a degree in Economics & International Affairs. Ayo was recently elected to serve as Freshman Representative to the Georgia Tech Undergraduate House of Representatives.
Evan Gillon – Legislative Intern (Volunteer)
Evan is a native of Smyrna, GA and a graduate of Wheeler High School. Evan is currently enrolled at Georgia Tech and is pursuing a degree in Public Policy. Evan is also the Editor in Chief of Georgia Tech’s branch of The Odyssey Online and on the SGA elections committee, as well as a member of GT’s Roosevelt Institute.
Jake Orvis – Legislative Intern (Volunteer)
Jake is a native of Statesboro, GA and graduated from Statesboro High School in 2014. Jake is currently pursuing a degree in Public Policy at Georgia Tech. He first became involved in politics as an intern with Georgia Victory 2014 and is currently serving as the President of College Democrats of Georgia Tech and College Democrats of Georgia.
Mary Roberts – Legislative Intern (Volunteer)
Mary is an Alabama native and a graduate of Hartselle High School. She is currently studying at Oglethorpe University where she is set to graduate in May 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and a minor in Business Administration. At Oglethorpe, Mary is a captain of the women’s golf team and on the Student Conduct Board, as well as a member of Chi Omega Fraternity.
