Chamblee, GA, May 6, 2016 – The Post Reports – Chamblee Police are reporting an active Bomb Threat investigation is underway at the Sam’s Club near the intersection of Clairmont and I-85. Police say that at approximately 2:58 PM, a white male subject wearing a red vest approached a cash register and announced there was a bomb in the store. He then left the scene and at this point has not been located or identified. The store was evacuated and police were called.
The Chamblee Police Department established a command post, a perimeter, and requested bomb sniffing dog assistance from several local agencies. At this time K9 units from Doraville Police and Dekalb Police are on the scene and checking the building.
Police say there are no traffic lanes blocked due to this incident and it is not expected to impact traffic significantly.
The final decision as to if or when to reopen the store will be ultimately made by the store manager.
UPDATE: Bomb squad has cleared the Sam’s Club with no explosive devices found. The store has been reopened.
Police say the person who made the bomb threat is potentially a teen who may have mental problems
