Brookhaven, GA, May 9, 2016 – The Post Reports – The City of Brookhaven is set to award a $241,421.31 contract to Whitesburg, GA based Integrated Construction and Nobility, Inc., to replace the bridge along the Murphey Candler Park nature trail, Tuesday.
The scope of work will consist of the removal of the existing bridge that was damaged by a fallen tree last year, and the installation of a pre-fabricated steel pedestrian bridge, granite wing walls and concrete trailways.
Brookhaven’s City Council unanimously approved bridge replacement in two of the City’s parks – Murphey Candler and Briarwood Park – back in January. This move by Brookhaven to “bundle” these efforts was predicated on the idea that they can utilize economies of scale and realize an overall cost savings.
“The Nature Trail bridge in Murphey Candler Park is unsafe and must be replaced as soon as possible,” Mayor John Ernst told The Post. “And the bridge in Briarwood Park was already partially funded so it just makes sense to try to accomplish both of these projects as soon as possible.”
The City says time is of the essence and they want work to commence ASAP.
Currently, the City is seeking a vendor for the replacement of the Briarwood Park bridge.
