Chamblee, GA, May 26, 2016 – The Post Reports – The City of Chamblee has a new Parks and Recreation Director. Her name is Jodie Gilfillan and she comes to Chamblee after serving more than 16 years as a Recreation Supervisor for the City of Alpharetta. During her tenure in Alpharetta, she managed several different facilities that included aquatics, arts, athletics and fitness. Additionally, Gilfillan coordinated and secured sponsorships and grant funding for city programs, special events and facility improvements.
“It’s an exciting time to be joining the City of Chamblee,” says Gilfillan. “I look forward to helping shape the future of parks and recreation for the Chamblee citizens.”
Gilfillan is a member of the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA), as well as the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA), and has served on multiple committees including Leadership, Visibility and Professional Development. She holds a degree in Exercise Science and Wellness/Athletic Training from Wayne State College and is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) and a Certified Pool Operator (CPO).
Prior to working in recreation for Alpharetta, Gilfillan served as the Assistant Sports Program Director for the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City and the Assistant Athletic Director for Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy.
