Brookhaven, GA, July 13, 2016 – by Trey Benton – Brookhaven Police Chief Gary Yandura and Deputy Police Chief Juan Grullon recognized several officers Tuesday evening on the occasion of their being promoted within the Department. Sergeant Lonnie Napier was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, Corporal Moises Vargas was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and Investigator Jeffery Gant was promoted to the rank of Corporal.
Lieutenant Napier, who was not in attendance Tuesday evening as he was in Dallas, Texas attending a Memorial Service for the five fallen Officers involved in last weeks shooting, started Policing in 1999 with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and spent time on the College Park Police Force. Lt. Napier was the Brookhaven Officer that was shot at a few weeks ago while he was investigating a robbery. Lt. Napier is among the first team of Officers on Brookhaven’s Police Force.
Sergeant Moises Vargas started Policing in 2006. He was also among the first team of Officers when Brookhaven began its Police force. Sgt. Vargas worked on the Gainesville Police Force, and prior to his service in Brookhaven, he worked in the City of Chamblee. He has worked in Brookhaven’s Detectives Unit as well as in the Patrol Division.
Corporal Jeffery Gant began his career in 2003 and spent his career working for the Clayton County Police Department. While in Clayton County, Corporal Gant was one of their top homicide investigators. Cpl. Gant started in Brookhaven in the Patrol Division and has worked in the Detectives Unit. He will now continue his service in the Patrol Division.
