Brookhaven, GA, August 3, 2016 – by Trey Benton – This story has been updated – The Post has learned Brookhaven Police Officers and Detectives are on scene investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon in the 1700 block of Clairmont Way, involving one victim who has been transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
Police say the victim sustained a serious injury and at this time it is not known whether that injury is life threatening.
The Post was able to confirm the victim as alert and able to speak prior to transport.
UPDATE: 6:30 PM – On scene, Brookhaven Police Detective David Snively told The Post, the victim who was shot was a white male and a resident at the shooting location.Police believe the man who was attempting a burglary, opened fire on the resident when his burglary was interrupted.
The victim sustained multiple wounds from a single gunshot and is reported to be in serious but stable condition at Grady Hospital.
The person shot call came in to Brookhaven PD around 3:17 PM, after the male victim made his way out of his home to the end of his driveway.
A neighbor who was driving down Clairmont Way noticed the shooting victim, aided him and called 911.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall, 200-lbs and bald.
At this time, no suspect has been apprehended in this active investigation.
