Brookhaven, GA, September 2, 2016 – The Post Reports – Based on information obtained from an autopsy of 8-month old Kamonine Whitehead, Brookhaven Police have charged her mother, 24-year old Shavone Nicole Whitehead and her mother’s 33-year old boyfriend, Edward Fair Wilson, with Felony Murder.
According to Police, on August 1st, Officers responded to the 1800 block of Corporate Blvd. after being advised the infant was unresponsive. On scene, Officers observed Kamonine to have noticeable bruising – injuries consistent with child abuse. While waiting for an ambulance to arrive, Brookhaven officers administered first aid.
After almost two weeks in ICU at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Egleston Hospital, little Kamonine passed away.
The Medical Examiners report says Kamonine suffered a Traumatic Brain injury caused by the acceleration and deceleration of the head. Police say the actual injuries which caused her death occurred within 2-hours of the 911 call.
Whitehead and Wilson remain in DeKalb County Jail.
