Brookhaven, GA, September 8, 2016 – The Post Reports – A diverse group of citizens has come together in an effort to formalize and better support the needs of the Brookhaven Police Department as well as officers families. The Brookhaven Police Department has proven to be a community driven police force that puts it’s citizens public safety above all else. From community involvement, to fundraising, to response times and diversity.
The newly formed Brookhaven Police Foundation, founded August 28, 2016, has a stated purpose “to enhance public safety and health to benefit the community of Brookhaven, Georgia and all of the residents therein, by supporting the Brookhaven Police Department and its employees in purchasing and donating equipment, facilities and property to the Brookhaven Police Department, by providing volunteers for community support of law enforcement activities, by providing funds for equipment, training and education for officers, to meet the emergency needs of police personnel and to provide a separate scholarship fund for college education for sworn police officers and their children.”
The Foundation is building upon the successful efforts of Larry Bradner, Stan Sands, Jed Beardsley and many others, who hosted the first of many Brookhaven Police Scholarship Fund Golf Tournaments in April of 2013. The funds from the tournament provide scholarships for Brookhaven Police officers and their children and will continue to do so in the future through the Brookhaven Police Foundation.
The foundation’s goal is to raise $100,000 in its first 12 months.
“Our police force has done a tremendous job for the Brookhaven community,” says JD Clockadale, President of the Brookhaven Police Foundation. “These officers put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe, respond to us when we are need and never stop working hard to help citizens build a better Brookhaven. And now is our chance to give back, in a much larger and organized way, to these officers that serve us so well.”
