Brookhaven, GA, October 26, 2016 – by Trey Benton – A total of eight Brookhaven Parks will soon get new or retrofitted signs reflecting new graphics, specific to the Brookhaven brand. On Tuesday, Brookhaven approved a contract with Whitesburg, GA based Integrated Construction and Nobility, Inc., in the amount of $99,584.55 for the work.
The parks on the list for newly constructed signs are: Clack’s Corner Park, Georgian Hills Park, Murphey Candler Park and Parkside Park. Ashford Park, Blackburn Park, Briarwood Park and Fernwood Park are on the list to receive new retrofitted inserts that fit into the already constructed monument signs.
Prior to the contract award, the City of Brookhaven issued an Invitation to Bid on August 19, 2016. Five companies responded with bids ranging from $227,000 to $518,000. When those numbers came in a bit higher than the City expected, Parks and Recreation Director Brian Borden went back and negotiated a lower price, and cut four of the parks off the initial project list.
The remaining parks, Lynwood, Osborne, Brookhaven and Skyland, Borden says, will be incorporated in the bid packages as part of the City’s implementation of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan.
The designs for the Park Monument signs were done by Atlanta-based Sky Design.
