“Today we celebrate the grand opening of our state of the art playground and basketball court,” said MES Mustang Fund President Chad Duncan. “We are so thankful to so many of you, who have been with us every step of the way, so that this could become a reality.” Duncan said past Mustang Fund President, Kathleen Jackowski, was instrumental in the design and build process and worked with school leaders and our vendors to implement the products that best suit the needs of the MES children now and many years into the future.
“When I served as the foundation president, the board decided to take on the lofty goal of replacing our outdated upper grades play space,” Jackowski told attendees. “We knew this was going to be a big task as the foundation, with the support of Ed Voyles Automotive, had recently completed the overhaul of the STEM lab. We worked with Playworx to develop a plan and a cost for our new playground. With a $100,000 playground planned we developed our fundraising strategy which included our annual appeal, business partners, Chamblee Cluster Schools car raffle, corporate donations and company matches.”
Attending the event were MES families, supporters, local business partners, PTA members, school officials and Brookhaven City leaders.
