Chamblee, GA, December 12, 2016 – by Greg Valley, Contributor – The Chamblee Swim and Dive teams have registered several impressive performances over the first half of the season. The boys are 6-0 with wins over Decatur, Druid Hills, Dunwoody, Lakeside, Paideia, and Tucker. Meanwhile the girls sport their own lofty record, having lost only once, to last year’s State Runner-Up Dunwoody.
So far the teams have had fifty qualifying times for the State Championship in February at Georgia Tech.
Senior Captains Grant Burke, Noah Oh, Brynn Lautenbacher, Carl Marwitz, and Julia von Bieberstein provide leadership for deep teams that seek to repeat as contenders for the DeKalb County Championship. The boys are seeking their fifth crown in a row while the girls are coming off a stellar Runner-Up finish.
Last year’s State Champion in the 100 Fly, Jade Foelske, leads the girls with five individual state cuts. Fellow Sophomore Liam Bell, State Runner-Up in the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke last season, has the most State Qualifying times for the boys with six cuts.
