A franchise location of a chain restaurant is planning to open a spot in historic downtown Chamblee. That is just as exciting as the news that Pizza Hut will be re-opening in a different spot a tenth of a mile from their previous location. What is next for Chamblee? Another Starbucks? A new Subway? A remodeled McDonald’s? Take me home Jesus.

The original Gus’s Fried Chicken is a wonderful thing. The franchised places, not so much. If you confuse a meal at the operation in Peachtree Center with authentic Memphis hot chicken there is not much I can add.

I bet you’re a joy to be around.

I like fried chicken like the next guy but I was hoping for something better, maybe a bit more upscale, brewup or similar. I assume this place will sell beer though so all is not lost.

Read the reviews on this chain. They are supposed to serve up some awesome fried chicken. I look forward to it.

Some cities like Decatur and the island of Puerto Rico allow egg raising in the backyard. It attracts snakes and Dunwoody does not allow it yet.Chicken or poultry is much easier on the environment than beef. 1 pound of corn means more poultry than for beef. Visit Georgia poultry alliance for details about the industry that stretches from Texas to Delaware with over 20 plants in crown jewel Georgia. Puerto Rico or Decatur for that matter are ready when you are. So is Delta.

Or actually have a meal at one of the local locations operated by the franchisee. They serve up an exceedingly mediocre version of Nashville style “hot chicken”. Dozens of local businesses provide a superior product. Or be excited about this franchise coming to your town. And celebrate the newest Starbucks, Subway, McDonalds’s. blah x3 in your hood. Or not.

Raising chickens also attracts available rodentia (they like the same foods) as well as opossums and larger predators that like chicken.
Kinda’ helps one understand why such practices were controlled for people in relatively close quarters DECADES ago.

From AJC review of Peachtree Center location:

“In other words, Gus’s is both deeply elementary and wonderfully perfect fried chicken.”

    The full ink …

I’ve got no dog int his game but it does sound like it has great potential. Memphis, not Nashville style BTW.
FYI – I’m not going to get into an argument about what time it is 🙂 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
