Chamblee, GA, February 18, 2017 – The Post Reports – The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting Leroy Starr Copney, one of the men charged and sought by Police for his alleged involvement in the shooting death of 30-year-old Andrew Spencer at a Chamblee QT gas station, has been arrested in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina by the U.S. Marshals Service.
The report says Copney was taken in to custody after authorities learned he may be staying at a motel there. He is expected to be extradited to Georgia, although the report does not say when.
The shooting took place on December 29, 2016 at approximately 03:24 hours. Police say a Chamblee Police Officer pulled into the parking lot of the QT located at 4050 Buford Hwy. and observed a group of men in and around the front door and gas pumps. The males appeared to be in some sort of confrontation, when suddenly the officer heard several gunshots, according to Police. The suspects fled the area in a newer model (possibly gray or green) Maserati Quatroporte.
Police later charged Copney and his accomplice Jilani Ade Bakhari with multiple felonies to include murder, aggravated assault, and Violation of the Georgia Gang Act.
