Brookhaven, GA, March 29, 2017 – Contributed by Allison Entrekin and Natalie Albert – After years of planning and a multi-month evaluation process, Ashford Park School has received its sought-after STEM Certification from AdvancED, a nonprofit, nongovernmental accreditation agency. The certification process evaluates a school’s efforts, quality and rigor in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Ashford Park School is now one of 74 schools nationwide to receive this certification.
“AdvancED STEM Certification is an honor of distinction and excellence, and it took a collaborative effort by our Ashford Park teachers, staff, community partners, students, and parents to receive the certification,” said Ashford Park School Principal Dr. LaShawn McMillan. “In today’s world, students from the earliest ages must be prepared and immersed in the STEM arena, and I am thrilled our efforts are being recognized.”
Once a school has earned AdvancED STEM Certification, the school may renew the certification each year for five years. After five years, the school must schedule its next STEM Certification Review visit.
