Brookhaven, GA, May 25, 2017 – by Trey Benton – If you’ve ever been to the gymnasium at Brookhaven’s Lynwood Park, you’ll know how hot it can get in there during the summer months. Why? Because there is no air conditioning. And there never has been – plenty of fans, but those can’t compete with the Georgia heat.
But, that will be changing soon.
On Tuesday, during their May 23rd Meeting, Councilmembers approved a $135,277 contract with United Maintenance, Inc. to install two 25-ton Trane HVAC units.
Parks and Recreation Director Brian Borden said, “It gets pretty hot in there. Unless you come in early in the morning or late in the evening, it’s pretty unbearable in there.” He said with the new air conditioning it will allow his department to offer more programming in the gym.
As part of the 2017 HOST Budget, the Parks & Recreation Department was budgeted $244,870 for recreation center improvements. The HVAC at Lynwood Park gym was at top of that list.
